When it comes to the Vikings over the last 50+ seasons, they have a long history of winning, from the late 1960's to the the late 1970's and into the early 1980's, then again from the late 1980's to the late 1990's. As a matter of fact. from 1968 to 1982 (15 seasons), the Vikings won 12 division championships. From 1987 to 2000, they won 11 division championships in 14 seasons. If my math is correct, that's 23 division titles in 29 years. THAT is winning. Since their last Super Bowl appearance after the 1976 season, the Vikings have been to the playoffs a total of 19 times, and reached the NFC Championship Game 5 times (1977, 1987, 1998, 2000 and 2009), with nary a Super Bowl appearance since then. The 1977, 1998, 2000 and 2009 teams were destined to participate in the NFC Championship games after the season they had,...

Minnesota Twins (26-29) 3rd AL Central– Moving in the Right Direction At 26-29 after an 18-27 record not too long ago, our Minnesota Twins are playing their best ball of the season. Minnesota is finding themselves a handful of games back improved in an improved AL Central with surprising Cleveland leading the division. Nipping at the Indians' heels are Detroit Tigers, then our beloved Twins with the White Sox and Royals bringing up the rear. Its still early and the division is still far from decided, but there are some overall general themes so far with this club: these guys come to play every night. Even with former MVP Justin Morneau hitting all of two home runs, two regulars batting over .260 and starting pitchers Mike Pelfrey and Vance Worley with ERA's well over 7. Take Tuesday night for example, when they handed the Royals their eleventh straight home loss on Tuesday,...

Until Adrian "All Day" Peterson arrived with the Vikings in 2007, Robert Scott Smith was the Minnesota Vikings' career record holder for a RB for yards gained in a career (6,818), rushing yards per attempt (4.8), rushing yards per game (69.6), average rushing attempts per game (14.4) and longest rushing touchdown in a game (78 yards).  Robert Smith was drafted as a sophmore in the first round, 21st overall, by the Vikings in the 1993 draft. He was the third RB taken that year, after Garrison Hearst (taken by the then-Phoenix Cardinals) and Jerome Bettis (taken by the then-Los Angeles Rams). While in college at Ohio State, Smith was known to criticize the football staff because he wanted to attend medical school, and they wouldn't let him concentrate on his studies. He also was on the track-and-field team while at Ohio State.  For the first several years of his pro career,...

Hello Game On! enthusiasts, my name is Ben Henry and I am the summer intern for Game On! The crew all calls me 'Intern Ben,' so we'll see if that nickname sticks. This summer I will be helping out the crew with the production of the show, the Game On! podcast, my own blog and anything they need me to run around for. I was born and raised in Minnesota, therefore I bleed purple, green –for the Wild of course— and blue for our Twins, Wolves, Lynx and the Swarm depending on what season it is of course! I grew up playing many different sports but found my passion in lacrosse. I have been playing for over ten years now. I played my high school game at Armstrong High School and continued to play, where I am now as a captain for the St. Cloud State Huskies. I have recently returned...
